[Synopsis] (Taken from goodreads)

No one is like Daemon Black.

When he set out to prove his feelings for me, he wasn’t fooling around. Doubting him isn’t something I’ll do again, and now that we’ve made it through the rough patches, well… There’s a lot of spontaneous combustion going on.

But even he can’t protect his family from the danger of trying to free those they love.

After everything, I’m no longer the same Katy. I’m different… And I’m not sure what that will mean in the end. When each step we take in discovering the truth puts us in the path of the secret organization responsible for torturing and testing hybrids, the more I realize there is no end to what I’m capable of. The death of someone close still lingers, help comes from the most unlikely source, and friends will become the deadliest of enemies, but we won’t turn back. Even if the outcome will shatter our worlds forever.

Together we’re stronger…and they know it.

The third book left off immediately after the 2nd book. Katy and Dee’s friendship is on the rocks because of Adam. Dawson is determined to return and save Bethany.

Katy and Dawson get along surprisingly well! Daemon and Katy’s relationship is so cute!

The development for this book was great. I’ve never read a second and third book of a series that has managed to keep me entertained for so long and they had me addicted to this series, I really couldn’t put this series down!

The plot twist was perfect and that cliff hanger ending had me really emotional and I literally threw my phone across the bed while my heart broke.

Chinese New Year 2018 part 3 (final)

Hey guys, so CNY festivities have officially ended in my household and I’m going to give you a recap on what happened and also my outfits for this festive season!

Chinese New Year Eve

So, as per tradition, we went to my aunt’s house to celebrate Chinese New Year, before, we actually went to my grandma’s house but she passed away, so the tradition goes to my aunt. We usually split the dinner into 2 sections, the adults would eat in the kitchen and the children would eat at the living room.

So I found out my cousin was going to study Mass communications and to be honest I thought she was going to Junior College since her parents always had very high expectations of her and expected nothing less than perfect. Nonetheless, I was pretty happy for her.

We ended up watching both Coco and Thor: Ragnarok on my cousin’s TV and I kept shushing my brother, hoping that he wouldn’t spoil the movie to the others.

But there weren’t much CNY feels this year.

Chinese New Year Day 1

So here is my music note dress paired with the Galaxy necklace and a salmon pink jacket. I wore my black heels (I didn’t take a photo).

We visited my grandpa’s house and my great aunt’s house. We had lunch at my great aunt’s house and the food was okay, I think it was catered food. Since we didn’t know much of the people there and everyone left earlier then we did, we ended up watching running man on the television!

Chinese New Year Day 2

I didn’t dress up for the 2nd day since we mainly only went out in the morning to visit the departed family members at their respective columbarium and churches.

It was really busy since once we reached home and ate lunch, I helped my maid prepare the food for the dinner with my mum’s side relatives. I was mainly the sous chef, chopping stuff and air frying the frozen food while my maid cooked the dishes.

So my relatives came and we had a sit down dinner. But unfortunately this year, my older cousin wasn’t around since she’s studying in London.

I mainly had to explain to my relatives that I was pescatarian (If you don’t know what it is, it’s just a vegetarian who eats seafood) and my aunt was so interested and mentioned that that was her diet as well. But during the dinner she was eating a chicken wing and I was just speechless 😂

Chinese New Year dinner

So it’s been a week since the festivities begun and CNY lasts for 15 days.

My dad bought us tickets for a CNY dinner held by my area’s ruling party (since he’s the chairman of my zone) and we went.

I wore a black top with the skirt that I bought (thinking it was a dress) plus my blue floral wedges I bought last year

So the dinner progressed and there was also a Lion dance to welcome the guest of honour who was Mr Baey Yam Keng, the MP (Member of Parliament). If you’ve never heard a lion dance before, the drums and noise that comes with it literally can be felt through your bones and your heart automatically aligns with the beat of the drum.

Unfortunately the food didn’t taste really good this year and I was starving. I brought with me Batman: Nightwalker by Marie Lu and literally almost finished the book while waiting for the food to come.

We had a 7 course meal inclusive of crabmeat soup, roasted chicken, spicy steamed fish, fried prawns, a vegetable dish with black shiitake mushrooms and abalone, fried noodles (my mum told me they were called ee fu noodles) and lastly ginko nut and yam paste for dessert.

Our host was Justin Mission, who acted in Ah Boys to Men 2. He was really entertaining and funny, but was a little mean to the kids.

Mr Baey Yam Keng’s house

So for the last house we got to visit was Mr Baey Yam Keng’s house.

I wore my floral top that I got from H&M and jeggings plus slippers (because we had to go in the house barefoot).

The food was catered and there was Laksa and more asian fusion dishes. We mainly just hung around since most of the people there were my dad’s friends.

Yup! So that concludes my 2018 Chinese New Year experience and actually, I felt that documenting it was the most fun part of it all!

Being connected to Daemon Black sucks…

Thanks to his alien mojo, Daemon’s determined to prove what he feels for me is more than a product of our bizarro connection. So I’ve sworn him off, even though he’s running more hot than cold these days. But we’ve got bigger problems.

Something worse than the Arum has come to town…

The Department of Defense are here. If they ever find out what Daemon can do and that we’re linked, I’m a goner. So is he. And there’s this new boy in school who’s got a secret of his own. He knows what’s happened to me and he can help, but to do so, I have to lie to Daemon and stay away from him. Like that’s possible. Against all common sense, I’m falling for Daemon. Hard.

But then everything changes…

I’ve seen someone who shouldn’t be alive. And I have to tell Daemon, even though I know he’s never going to stop searching until he gets the truth. What happened to his brother? Who betrayed him? And what does the DOD want from them—from me?

No one is who they seem. And not everyone will survive the lies…

-> This song by Timeflies is perfect for this book! (Monsters by Timeflies)

(DISCLAIMER: This review is based on my opinion only and may contain coarse language)

After Daemon heals Katy, they seemed to have connected and formed a bond.

Blake, the new kid is nice and perfect and seems to have the hots for Katy, but he seems suspicious to me. Daemon’s jealousy was childish, but also funny and cute as well.

I was pleasantly surprised since I didn’t expect anything else much to happen, but was swept away by the discoveries and revelations in this book.

The plot twists were great, and as were the story progression, it was thrilling and kept me on the edge of my seat. The bonus material was really cute.

This 2nd book drew me deeper into the Lux series, and I fell in love with it, like how Katy fell in love with Daemon. (Might I add that Daemon will officially be my first book boyfriend? Apart from the Darkling?)

[Synopsis] (Taken from goodreads)

Starting over sucks.

When we moved to West Virginia right before my senior year, I’d pretty much resigned myself to thick accents, dodgy internet access, and a whole lot of boring… until I spotted my hot neighbor, with his looming height and eerie green eyes. Things were looking up.

And then he opened his mouth.

Daemon is infuriating. Arrogant. Stab-worthy. We do not get along. At all. But when a stranger attacks me and Daemon literally freezes time with a wave of his hand, well, something… unexpected happens.

The hot alien living next door marks me.

You heard me. Alien. Turns out Daemon and his sister have a galaxy of enemies wanting to steal their abilities, and Daemon’s touch has me lit up like the Vegas Strip. The only way I’m getting out of this alive is by sticking close to Daemon until my alien mojo fades.

If I don’t kill him first, that is.

(DISCLAIMER: This review is based on my opinion only and may contain coarse language)

After Katy’s father passed away, their family moves, she tries to talk to the boy next door; Daemon, but he’s arrogant and rude. Dee is friendly and bubbly unlike her twin brother. So after hanging out with them, Katy discovers that they are aliens and have enemies chasing them down.

Okay, was I the only one who thought that although Daemon may be a dickhead, he was infuriatingly hot at the same time? He had the whole alpha made and brooding bad boy image going on.

This book definitely had a twilight feel going on, but with an alien twist! The romance between the characters also reminded me of Emma and Galen from the Syrena Legacy by Anna Banks! I really enjoyed the world building of this book!

BTW, my favourite scene was the spaghetti one (Read this book to find out what happens!)

I really liked the characters and felt that this book was worth the hype! Although the storyline was clichéd and predictable, it was in a nice and refreshing way!

Knowing that Katy did book tube and book blogging definitely raised the reliability factor for me!

That cliff hanger ending had me raging for a while before I decided to borrow the other 4 books (in ebook form) from my local library (Talk about extreme much?)

I really enjoyed this series and was one of those instances that I actually liked an extremely hyped up book!
